Hope someone can shed some light, Tjerk Zweers. I support Microsoft Outlook and while it's a more robust Exchange client than Apple Mail, It's also missing a lot of features you get in Mail. Alternative to ms office for mac. If you visit the Microsoft forums, you'll find lots of issues with Outlook 2016. Regardless, you will have similar issues with Outlook. Outlook 2016 for Windows - Caldav I just switched from mac to windows and am setting up my gmail account. I noticed that outlook 2016 does not support synchronization of gmail calendars and contacts, since it does not support caldav and cardav. Outlook CalDav Synchronizer is a free Outlook Plugin, that can synchronize events, tasks and contacts between Outlook and a CalDAV or CardDAV server*. Amongst others, it supports synchronisation between Google, SOGo, and Horde, and it supports 3Outlook versions 2016, 2013, 2010 and 2007.

Certainly the email function works on both but I have not yet seen any comments as to whether calendar and contacts do as well, as this option is free it costs you nothing but time to try it out and let us know. Note: Microsoft do not support the independent official standards of CardDAV and CalDAV (for contacts and calendars respectively) which Google, Apple, Mozilla, and many others do support. These standards are not proprietary to Apple unlike EWS, EAS, and MAPI which are all proprietary closed Microsoft only standards. (See Microsoft and talking through arse.) Note: Apple Mail definitely can only do email with Outlook.com and Apple's Mac Calendar and Contacts applications cannot talk to Outlook.com at all. I don't (ugh!) have a copy of Outlook 2016 for Mac myself as yet so have not yet had the misfortune chance to try adding an Outlook.com account to it. Clearly if it does not support calendar and contacts between Outlook 2016 for Mac and Outlook.com with both being written by Microsoft then they only have themselves to blame. Andrew I’m experiencing a TON of crashes. Outlook seems to crash a lot when I’m sending mails, not so much when opening and rarely/never when receiving. There’s a lot of randomness to the crashes. It’s not certain addresses, or certain sizes, no association to attachments or after sending a certain number or messages or after a certain amount of time. The first release of the beta worked great, it’s gone downhill sense. Also, is there ANY way to locally archive mail? My mailbox is getting very large and we don’t have the ability to turn on the online archiving feature.

This is in a test phase and is slowly being offered to users adding Google accounts, with general availability later in the year. This uses the 'Microsoft Cloud', not CalDAV and CardDAV. This cloud service began rolling out to Windows Insiders a couple of weeks ago (for testing in the Windows Mail app). This will eventually make it into Outlook 2016 for Windows.

Exchange Basics The Inbox syncs more frequently than any other and should be kept as clean as possible. (this is the number one cause of problems with sync). Do NOT make subfolders under the Inbox. Any folder with more than a few thousand messages is going to take some time to fully come down when you first sync your account. Due to the design of Outlook's sync engine (and how exchange works), you will see the 512 newest messages in a folder at the initial start of sync then the rest of the folder's contents will be back filled before you see any mail that arrives after this point. Outlook checks the server for updates every minute, any folder that has updates will subsequently be synced.
